At 8pm on Friday, hundreds of millions of people in India , from tea shops in Mumbai slums to plush Delhi suburbs and thousands of villages in between, will sit down to watch the Deccan Chargers play the Kolkata Knight Riders in the opening match of the third season of the Indian Premier League ( IPL ).

By Gautam Sathe, Mumbai, Mar 11 : The Indian Premier League season three returns back to India after being forced to move to South Africa for the second edition last year, with promises of a heady mix of cricket and entertainment with last season laggards Kolkata Knight Riders taking on defending champions Deccan Chargers in the tournament opener here tomorrow.
