Chennai, Sep 7 (PTI) The Centre is making all efforts to move the Womens' Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha in the coming winter session, Union Minister V Narayanasamy said today.

"The prime minister is likely to convene an all-party meeting (to evolve consensus). We are taking all efforts to bring the bill in the Lok Sabha in the winter session of Parliament," the minister of state for planning and parliamentary affairs told reporters in Chennai.

GANDHINAGAR: The Gujarat government on Tuesday reintroduced in the Assembly an official bill seeking to make voting compulsory in the elections to the local self-government bodies without carrying out the changes recommended by the Governor. But did not press for its passage immediately.

Unfazed by the Governor sending back Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's much talked about compulsory voting bill, the state government re-introduced the legislation without any changes in the assembly on Tuesday.The bill making voting mandatory in elections to self governing bodies was returned by Governor Kamla in April on the grounds the legislative measure is against individual freedom.
